A Vibrant and Diverse Research Community
A multidisciplinary community of art historians, archaeologists, anthropologists and museum professionals span research subjects from prehistory to the present. SIfA's distinctive concerns include the study of art, material and visual culture, as well as cultural heritage. We welcome research applications in any of the areas represented by the faculty interests.
A Member of the CHASE consortium
The Sainsbury Institute for Art is a member of the Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts Southeast England (CHASE). This consortium was formed to promote excellence in research, postgraduate research training and knowledge exchange in the Arts & Humanities. The CHASE Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to offer around 75 studentships a year over five years. Together we are seeking to shape a future in which the values and dispositions of scholarship in the arts and humanities - inventiveness, craft, rigour, intuitive and counter-intuitive insight - can flourish alongside developments in creative practice, digital technologies and media forms. CHASE brings together 7 leading research universities: The Courtauld Institute of Art, Goldsmiths, University of London, the Open University, and the Universities ofEast Anglia, Essex, Kent and Sussex.
