The Art Lab: Changing Landscapes

The Art Lab: Changing Landscapes

29th Sep 2012 - 23rd Dec 2012

Changing Landscapes combines rarely displayed works of art from the Sainsbury Centre collections together with stimulating new projects and commissions by visiting artists and academics, showing a whole variety of current thinking about landscape and environmental issues.

Highlights include:

• a new film by artists Dalziel and Scullion about the last wolf in Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands

• an installation by artist Lee Grandjean entitled "From The Deep Woods", consisting of eleven sculptures and a wall painting

• rare drawings commissioned by anthropologist Dr Aristoteles Barcelos-Neto about shamans' spirits in the Brazilian rainforest

There are also art-making areas where you can create miniature gardens or contribute to a soft landscape being specially created for children. At the centre of the display will be an open gallery where artists can submit work. A library and resource areas are available for study and a space can be booked for informal meetings and discussions.

This exhibition is part of a new EU Interreg funded project, which is a collaboration until 2015 between the Sainsbury Centre, Fabrica art gallery in Brighton and three institutions in the Pas de Calais and Normandy in northern France.
