SIfA and SADACC sign affiliation agreement

SIfA and SADACC sign affiliation agreement

UEA has just signed a letter of intent which affiliates the South Asian Decorative Arts and Crafts Collection (SADACC) to the Sainsbury Institute for Art (SIfA) and foresees the development of a South Asian Centre along similar lines to the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures.

SADACC is a registered charitable Trust based in Country & Eastern's Old Skating Rink Gallery on Bethel Street  near The Forum in the City Centre.  Over the last two years space has been developed for study and library facilities, together with a new exhibition gallery in the main hall area. Public and academic events have been held in the building for some years and plans are being developed to upgrade the support facilities for such events. Working together SIfA and SADACC will stage rotating exhibitions based on SADACC's collections and associated research and educational activities are planned.  Funding for postgraduate educational and travel scholarships will continue to be available on a competitive basis for those working in areas consistent with the interests of the Trust and its collections.

Country & Eastern's flourishing retail activities remain unchanged and will continue to provide a significant contribution to the funding of the Trust.
